![]() (By the way, for some great guitarplaying that includes extensive use of the Scruggs tuner, check out a dude named Adrian Legg.) (note: since the lyrics and chords are already transcribed, I haven't bothered. This thing works with a lever and is perfect for a quick dropped D between songs, but is a little less practical during a song, mainly because the way it is designed causes the pitch of the string to be raised a little before it is lowered. Another option is the Hipshot D-tuner, which you can get from Stew Mac. You can also buy Scruggs tuners online, new, but they're like $100, a piece, which is obviously ludicrous, but a better option than spending $3500, dollars on a new guitar. Anyways, here you can find guitars that feature the Scruggs tuners (the Clarence White Telecaster, the Waylon Jennings Telecaster, and I believe the Marty Stuart Telecaster has 'm too). We finally found an amp to stay with and used that as our main amp. Brad said, 'Wed play this one and then that one and we had a guitar tech up there changing out the amps. Things eventually move from the upbeat Boogie Woogie Down the Jericho Road to the slower, reflective tunes where the harmonies expand to gospel standards. ![]() Marty and Brad spent about a month playing the various Telecasters that were sent. Marty Stuart wraps all this in classic fiddle/Telecaster-fueled country music (I’m Blue I’m Lonesome, When It Comes to Loving You), guided by guitarist Kenny Vaughan. (Image credit: Alysse Gafkjen) Ace guitarist and longtime Grand Ole Opry member Marty Stuart is one of country music history’s biggest champions, but what Guitar World readers really want to know is Your new album, Way Out West, was recorded in California and has a definite desert feel. Fender calls it the "Custom Artist Series", you know, the signature guitars of people who are really dead (Danny Gatton, Waylon Jennings, SRV and Albert Collins), and therefore do not have to be paid. Since Marty was a pretty big star, all of the dealers agreed to the deal. And before long guitarist were actually de- and re- tuning their guitars in the middle of songs, as is the case in this song, as opposed to retuning between songs, what the original idea was. Guitarist liked this idea too and started modifying them so low E strings fit through them and put them on guitars. They were invented by Earl Scruggs, (DUH!!) so he could easily switch from a G-tuning to a D-tuning and back on a banjo. In case you don't know, Scruggs tuners are tuning pegs with which you can very easily detune a string to a pre-determined pitch. This is the same Tele that featured the first B-bender ever, invented by Mr White. Marty has a set of them on Clarence, the Fender Telecaster which was given to him by the widow of the late Clarence White. This song features the Scruggs tuner, or Keith tuner, on the low E-string. ![]() "CRY CRY CRY" by Johnny Cash, as performed by Marty Stuart. Stuart’s latest effort, The Pilgrim, is a masterpiece that tells the tale of love gone wrong and the tragedy, revenge, and redemption that follows.
